Ron Francis To Vancouver Canucks As General Manager?

The noise around the Vancouver Canucks suggests that Patrik Allvin could soon be out as general manager and a landing spot for him could be the Minnesota Wild. There's more on that here

If Allvin exits, could Ron Francis enter? Francis was a long-time general manager with both the Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken, with a stint as president of hockey operations this past season with Seattle. The link to Vancouver for Francis runs through Jim Rutherford. Francis worked with Rutherford for several seasons in Carolina and eventually took over as general manager from Rutherford of the Hurricanes. Ron Francis could be hired as the general manager of the Vancouver Canucks now and eventually assume the president of hockey operations title from Rutherford, when the time comes for Rutherford to enter retirement.

If You're A Toronto Maple Leafs Fan, All Hope Is Lost!

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is in control of one of the top franchises in the NHL, but they seemingly don't have an understanding of the NHL and the hockey business in general. They should know every possible candidate for a president and/or general manager position backwards and forwards. They have been doing this long enough and should be experts, yet they have hired an outside consulting firm to find a suitable candidate to lead the Maple Leafs hockey department (this may work in business, but doesn't work in building a successful hockey team!). If you're a Maple Leafs fan, all hope looks to be lost! There is more on this situation here

Oh and PS, if you're thinking of who will win the Battle of Ontario and be the best NHL team in Ontario in the coming years, at least for the next decade or so, the smart money appears to be on the Ottawa Senators. Dark days appear to be ahead for the Toronto Maple Leafs!

Defenseman Kade O'Rourke Seeking OHL Exceptional Status

15 year-old Kade O'Rourke is seeking exceptional status in the OHL. If granted his exceptional status, it would allow the American defenseman to play in the OHL a year early. The Oshawa Generals have the first pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection Draft and if O'Rourke is picked by the Generals, it would keep him playing within the Greater Toronto Area. O'Rourke moved to Toronto at the age of 11 to play in the GTHL. The story is here.

Did The Late Season GM Firing Cost The Toronto Maple Leafs Top College Free Agent T.J. Hughes?

Did the late season firing of general manager Brad Treliving cost the Toronto Maple Leafs the top college free agent, forward T.J. Hughes? The answer to that is probably. With all of the chaos surrounding the Maple Leafs currently and no direction forward until a new management team is put in place, the Leafs will miss the window to sign the Hamilton native and he likely will look elsewhere. Here is some background on T.J. Hughes.
