Of the three trade proposals for Connor Hellebuyck listed by Daily Faceoff, the proposed package from the Carolina Hurricanes stands out as the best option. Acquiring defenceman Alexander Nikishin, centre Jesperi Kotkaniemi, one of goaltenders Brandon Bussi or Pyotr Kochetkov and two first-round picks would set the Winnipeg Jets up well for a reset. The second first-round pick from Carolina is for taking the gamble (and contract) on Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The trade wouldn't gut the Hurricanes and would set them up well for a chance to repeat as Stanley Cup champions with one of the NHL's best goaltenders between their pipes. The story is here.
