Detroit Red Wings Rise In Standings Stalled By Ownership Decisions
It turns out the Detroit Red Wings could have signed future Hall of Famer Steven Stamkos. They also had a recent deal in place to sign Anthony Mantha. Both players would have helped the Red Wings climb the NHL standings, especially in the case of Stamkos. With Stamkos in the Red Wings lineup, they likely would already be in a position to be a playoff team challenging for the Stanley Cup. They have been missing veteran star power in their lineup for quite some time now. Red Wings owner Chris Illitch hesitated to offer Stamkos a contract and they lost Mantha while Illitch was deliberating on that deal. If Red Wings fans want to blame somebody for their stalled rise in the standings, the finger of blame should be pointed at the owner. There's more here.
